Toxicology — Feline

High-yield toxicology presentations in feline cases, drilled with NAVLE-style vignettes.

All parts of true lilies are nephrotoxic to cats and acute kidney injury can be fatal; early decontamination plus 48 hours of IV diuresis before azotemia develops is the standard of care and dramatically improves outcome. Concentrated permethrin products for dogs cause tremors and seizures in cats. Methocarbamol controls tremors while bathing removes remaining dermal product; atropine is for organophosphates, and emesis is useless for dermal exposure. Cats cannot glucuronidate acetaminophen, leading to methemoglobinemia and hepatotoxicity; N-acetylcysteine replenishes glutathione and is the specific antidote, often combined with oxygen and supportive care.
