Respiratory — Equine

High-yield respiratory presentations in equine cases, drilled with NAVLE-style vignettes.

Severe equine asthma is driven by inhaled organic dust and molds; no medication succeeds without environmental control. Corticosteroids and bronchodilators are adjuncts to dust reduction and pasture housing. Rhodococcus equi is a facultative intracellular pathogen causing pyogranulomatous pneumonia in foals; the standard of care is a macrolide plus rifampin, which penetrate abscesses and act intracellularly.
